Ingredients
- 1 large red onion
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
Preparation
- Pour boiling water over thinly sliced onions and drain.
- Place onion slices and 2 whole cloves (optional)Â into 1 large or 2 small glass jars.
- In a saucepan mix the vinegar, lime juice and sugar and simmer until sugar is dissolved. Pour mixture over onions in the glass jars and seal.Â
Helpful hints
- Try Pickled Red Onions on fish tacos or hamburgers.
- Refrigerate pickled onions until ready to serve. Keeps for 3 weeks in the refrigerator.Â
